Time-Sert 5012C M10 x 1.25 Metric Thread Repair Kit

Description

The BIG-SERT 5012C Thread Repair Kit is a professional-grade M10 x 1.25 oversized solid-bushing thread repair system designed primarily for second-time thread repairs—especially when a previous coil-style insert repair has failed or pulled out.

Unlike a conventional first-time thread repair, the BIG-SERT system removes the damaged area surrounding the previous repair and installs a larger outside-diameter solid steel insert while restoring the internal thread to the original M10 x 1.25 size.

What Makes the 5012C Different?

The 5012C includes a tap guide, providing additional alignment assistance while cutting the new oversized threads. This can be particularly valuable where keeping the repaired thread square and properly aligned with the original hole is important.

The kit is supplied with the tooling necessary to prepare the damaged hole and install the BIG-SERT insert:

• Drill
• Counterbore
• BIG-SERT tap
• Insert driver
• Tap guide
• Five (5) steel BIG-SERT inserts – P/N 50123
• Thread locking/sealing compound

The supplied inserts are 20 mm long.

Important Hole-Depth Requirement

Before purchasing the 5012C, measure the available hole depth.

A blind hole must be at least:

26 mm (1.023″) deep

for the 20 mm inserts supplied with this kit.

If the blind hole does not meet this requirement, do not use the 5012C, because its inserts are too long. For shallower applications, the 5012B, supplied with 14 mm inserts, is the appropriate alternative.

Maximum Existing Hole Size

The condition of the failed repair also matters. The damaged hole should not be larger than 31/64″ (0.484″) before performing the 5012C repair.

This is an important qualification when dealing with a badly damaged hole or failed previous insert. BIG-SERT requires sufficient surrounding parent material for the new oversized threads to be properly formed.
